The Sweet and Solitary Taste of Dew (2024)
We find the character anonymous, almost invisible, as if she was melting away, constantly looking for any possibility of escape. Always in an uneasy duality between trying and feeling defeated. The overall atmosphere of the work is that of a gilded cage, pretty but increasingly filled with panic, which is also a metaphor for a modern society that prides itself on being liberal and inclusive, yet still conditions and criticises the behaviour, desires and aspirations of many women, leaving them feeling powerless to act for themselves and their happiness.
This series tackles themes of freedom and confinement, mental health, gender and social structures. Through these images and self-portraits, I sought to capture moments of strength and vulnerability that reflect the complexity of the female experience.
‘The Sweet and Solitary Taste of Dew’ is above all a tribute to the resilience and determination of women. However, it is also a reminder of the challenges that remain and the need to continue defending women's autonomy and well-being. I hope this work inspires you to reflect on the challenges of freedom, mental health and the role of women in contemporary society.
